The Not so Scary "Visit"
by THS Media Taylor Simms
M. Night Shyamalan creates yet another amazing movie. With his new film, “The Visit” Shyamalan went back to the basics with the found-footage format in the comedy-horror twist. The movie itself was filled with suspense to keep the audience in their seats, but “The Visit” wasn’t much of a horror movie. I enjoyed the comedy aspects of the film, but I didn’t see the horror. I feel like this film was more of a bizarre comedy then any type of horror movie.
The movie kept the audience at the end of their seats through it all, but that doesn’t mean it was scary. When I think of scary I think of more of “Ouija” not “Paranormal Activity”, which is similar to “The Visit.” It’s a suspenseful movie meant to make the audience feel scared because they don’t know if something's going to jump out in front of them.
I give this movie five Patriots for suspense and comedy but the horror movie aspects really weren’t there. I recommend watching this movie if you can’t handle scary movies or if you are just starting out watching them and need to start small. Overall, “The Visit” is an exceptional movie and was written and filmed pretty well despite the absence of horror.
